FAQs
Questions about websites, web applications, timelines and how I work. If something isn't covered here, just ask.
Websites
Company and service websites, landing pages, e-commerce sites, and websites connected to custom back-end systems. Most clients need a site that builds trust and generates enquiries — I design and build those from scratch, not from a template.
A standard business website typically takes 3–6 weeks from sign-off to launch, depending on the number of pages and how quickly content is provided. I'll give you a clear timeline in the proposal before anything starts.
Professional websites start from £800 for a straightforward company or service site and scale with complexity. Every project is quoted individually — you'll receive a fixed-price proposal before any work begins.
Yes to both. All sites are fully responsive across devices, fast-loading, and built with a solid SEO structure from day one — clean URLs, proper heading hierarchy, meta, schema markup and page speed baked in.
Yes, if that's what you need. I can build in a CMS so your team can manage content without touching code. For simpler sites, most clients find it easier to send updates to me directly — it's often quicker and keeps things consistent.
Yes. I manage hosting, SSL, backups and security updates for all the sites and systems I build. This is included in the monthly Ongoing Optimisation retainer.
Yes. A rebuild typically involves a fresh design and structure while retaining your existing content and protecting your SEO equity. Most clients find that starting clean — rather than patching an old site — produces a significantly better result.
Yes. I design logos, brand identities, colour palettes and supporting graphics — either as part of a website project or as a standalone brief.
Custom Web Applications
Booking systems, client portals, internal dashboards, data management tools, custom CRMs, reporting platforms, membership systems — anything that currently relies on spreadsheets, manual processes, or off-the-shelf software that doesn't quite fit.
Off-the-shelf software is built to serve as many businesses as possible — which means compromises. A custom system is built specifically around how your business works. It does exactly what you need, integrates with your existing tools, and you own it outright with no ongoing vendor dependency.
It depends on complexity. A focused internal tool can take 4–8 weeks. Larger systems with multiple modules, integrations and user roles typically take 3–6 months. I give you a clear timeline in the proposal before anything starts.
Projects start from £2,000 for a focused system and scale with complexity. Every project is quoted individually after a discovery conversation — you'll receive a fixed-price proposal before any work begins, so there are no surprises.
That's what the discovery conversation is for. We map out what you need, identify where the biggest gains are, and work out what's worth building. You get a clear picture before committing to anything.
Yes. I regularly integrate with CRMs, payment providers, booking platforms, accounting software, email systems, and any service that exposes an API. If you have an existing tool you want to connect, I can discuss what's feasible.
Primarily PHP, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks. All systems are browser-based — accessible on any device, nothing to install. I choose the right tools for each project rather than fitting everything into one stack.
You do. You own the code and the system outright. There are no licensing fees or ongoing vendor charges — the only ongoing cost is hosting and any support retainer you choose to take.
Process & Working Together
With a conversation — either a quick call or a more detailed discovery session, depending on how clear the brief already is. I map out what you need, confirm it's a good fit, and produce a written proposal covering scope, timeline and cost before anything begins.
You work directly with me — Andy Jones — not an account manager relaying messages. I handle design, development and project management myself. Faster decisions, clearer communication, no Chinese whispers between you and the person doing the work.
Both. I'm based in Lichfield, Staffordshire, and work with clients across the UK. Most projects run entirely remotely without any issue. For clients in the Midlands, in-person meetings are easy to arrange when useful.
Regular check-ins and written updates throughout the build. You see the work take shape as it progresses, and review it before handover. Nothing is signed off unseen, and the proposal locks the scope so there are no surprises.
Handover includes documentation and any training your team needs. Most clients continue on a monthly retainer covering hosting, security, updates and reserved development time for future improvements.
Small fixes in the first period after launch are included. For larger changes or ongoing development, I offer monthly retainer support — so there's always reserved capacity when you need something updated or extended.
Website updates, SEO monitoring and fixes, paid ads management (Google / Meta), monthly strategy review and reporting. Designed for businesses that need consistent digital support without the cost of an agency or in-house hire.
