AI & Google Search Visibility
Google still matters, and more of your customers now ask an AI a question instead of scrolling a page of links. If a search engine or an AI doesn’t know who you are, or can’t read your site properly, it recommends someone else.
I make your website easy for Google and AI assistants to read, understand and trust, and I check whether it’s working by searching and asking the AIs the questions your customers ask.
What’s Changed
AI assistants don’t show ten links. They give one answer and name two or three businesses. Being one of them depends on different things from a traditional ranking.
Many AI crawlers read very little JavaScript. If your content only appears after a script runs, or sits in images and PDFs, it may as well not exist.
A page that says what you do in clear, direct language, under the question a customer actually asks, is far easier to quote than a page of marketing prose.
Your name, location, services and prices need to match everywhere they appear. Mixed-up details make an AI less willing to recommend you.
AI answers draw heavily on directories, reviews, “best of” lists and discussion sites. What others say about you carries a lot of weight.
What I Do
Most of this is good, careful SEO with a few additions. None of it is a trick.
I ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI answers the questions your customers ask, and record who gets named and why. That’s your starting point.
Checking that the AI crawlers you want are allowed in, that your content is in the HTML they receive, and that your sitemap is accurate.
Restructuring key pages so each question has a plain 1–3 sentence answer first, then the detail. Specific prices, places and facts rather than vague claims.
Organisation, service, FAQ and article markup, generated from the content actually on the page so the two never drift apart.
One agreed description of who you are, where you are and what you charge, matched across your site, Google Business Profile and the main directories.
Identifying the roundups, directories and review sites that AI answers in your sector keep citing, and how to be properly represented on them.
How It Works
You see where you stand before anything is changed, and you see whether it moved afterwards.
I test your site and ask the AIs your customers’ questions. You get a plain-English summary of what’s being said, who’s being recommended instead, and what’s getting in the way.
I work through the changes in order of impact: technical access first, then content structure, then the off-site work. Most changes are made directly on your website.
The same questions are asked again after the changes have had time to be picked up, so you can see what moved. Then we decide what’s worth doing next.
Straight Talking
The good news is that almost everything that helps an AI understand your business also helps ordinary search and your human visitors, so the work earns its keep either way.
Questions
It’s how often, and how accurately, Google and AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Gemini show or mention your business when someone searches or asks a question you should be the answer to.
It overlaps heavily, and it includes Google SEO. A fast, well-structured, crawlable site is the foundation for both. AI visibility adds a focus on direct answers, consistent business facts and how others describe you elsewhere.
No, and be wary of anyone who says they can. I can remove the barriers, make your site easy to cite, and show you measured before and after results.
The changes to your site can be done in days to a few weeks. How quickly AI tools and search engines pick them up varies. I re-check after enough time has passed to see a real difference rather than promise a date.
Usually not. Most of the work is changing how existing pages are written and marked up. If the site is built in a way crawlers can’t read, I’ll tell you what that would involve and whether it’s worth it.
For most businesses that want to be found, yes. It’s a decision about each crawler, and I’ll set it up deliberately rather than leaving it to a default.
Get in touch and tell me what you do and who you want to be found by. I’ll tell you honestly whether this is worth doing for you.
